Tekken 8 is official, and coming to PS5, Xbox Series X, and Steam

Here is the biggest news from Sony’s latest event for Tekken fans: Tekken 8 is in development and the company has also released its first trailer, which contains a lot of details about the game.

The sequel to the popular fighting game comes after a long eight-year wait since Tekken 7 was released in 2015, but will the new generation outperform its predecessor? So let’s break down all the details below.

Tekken 8 Trailer Reveals Story Mode Gameplay

On Tuesday, Sony held a PlayStation State of Play event, where Tekken franchise developer Bandai Namco confirmed the next-gen Tekken game and revealed that the project is called Tekken 8.

The best part of the announcement is that the company showed the actual game instead of a pre-rendered movie for the trailer.

Since the game was developed on the Unreal engine, it is unclear whether it is Unreal Engine 5 or not. In the trailer, you can see the epic battle of the game’s heroes Jin Kazama and Kazuya Mishima in the middle of a heavy storm.

And Tekken Project Lead Producer Harada also revealed that this footage from the trailer above is from Tekken 8’s story mode, also saying that “it’s just a certain part of the current work in progress.”

While this isn’t the first time the company has announced the game, it already teased the game during last month’s Tekken 7 Championship Grand Finals at Evo 2022, but has now confirmed plenty of details.

At the moment it is a complete mystery when the launch will take place, but we can expect it to arrive later this year, or else the deadline could be the first quarter of 2023.

What platforms will Tekken 8 be on?
Since Sony plays a big role in this game, it’s obviously coming to PlayStation, but only for PlayStation 5. And we may see some additional campaigns for PS5 players, like exclusive bundles.

By the way, it’s also coming to Xbox for both Series X and Series S. For PC gamers, it’s gathering steam. And we will let you know when the pre-order starts.
